At the end of the 1950s, Nikolaos Nikolaidis arrived in Greece from Constantinople and in 1961 founded DOMESTICA, initially as a company importing household electrical appliances.​
By the mid-1960s, foreseeing the boom in Greek tourism, the company began specializing exclusively in importing professional equipment for the foodservice industry.
